In case the collar or waistband width varies, there are the Flexi buttons made of metal.
With their flexible loop made of spring steel, they are attached to the regular button and can then be comfortably closed with the buttonhole.
The practical Flexi buttons are available sorted in sizes 10, 15, and 19 mm, or in sets of 3 in sizes 15 mm and 19 mm.
